I played sports growing up and had a very active outdoor family. My athletic journey changed over the years from softball to horseback riding to coaching softball. It was always a highlight watching my t-ball girls move up and improve over time. When I graduated from high school I moved to powerlifting and absolutely loved it.
My turning point in my life was a shoulder injury. I tore my AC joint and pinched a nerve in my elbow after falling from a horse. After realizing my career in softball was over I was pretty down on myself. I found the world of lifting shortly after and excelled in the sport, hitting numbers I never could in high school. When I left college I stuck with lifting but wasn’t truely in love with the sport. I found a CrossFit gym close to my house and signed up for a year right out of the gate. Finding CrossFit was a saving grace for me, it gave me everything I wanted. Finding this path has given me the chance to push myself and strengthen my shoulder again. CrossFit has helped me get back on the field to play softball again while giving me the mobility I never had before.
I coach to see my members grow. Starting at a gym can be scary, but I know the hard work it takes to improve. Seeing members hit their goals is amazing and motivates me to work harder too.
